And it rained on the catwalk…
LIONEL, the latest addition to our ongoing collaboration with MONCLER, was presented last wednesday during the MONCLER GAMME ROUGE S/S 13 runway show in Paris.
Accompanied by MONCLER’s traditional colour trifecta (white, red and blue), lots of silver accents and shiny metallic colours were shown on the italian fashion house’s S/S 13 runway. Designer Giambatistta Valli brought up a classic, yet playful and entertaining collection, displayed in a setting reminiscent of coastal or maritime classic adventures.
Following the sailor theme used for the MONCLER GAMME BLEU S/S 13 show in Milan, the styling seemed to be influenced by the late 70′s american TV-Series “Love Boat”, but featuring sexy -presumed to be- italian sailors, in contrast to the demurely outfitted female models.
Inspired by 1950s alpine glacier goggles, which featured round lenses in metal rims and leather cladding for protection against the sun’s rays, LIONEL incorporates an ample double bridge and slight temples that represent the modern manifestation of alpine eyewear for life down in the valley.
The frame is made of MYLON, a material developed by MYKITA after years of research and looking to meet both the challenges of facing the elements and the aesthetic aspirations associated with an urban, modern lifestyle.
The patented high-tech material makes the frames extremely light, durable and individually adjustable. To mark the 60th anniversary of Moncler this frame was named after Lionel Terray – in remembrance of the first mountaineer to have his expeditions outfitted by Moncler. LIONEL is synonymous with a defining principle of both companies: combining modern design with technological innovation.
