MYKITA pop’s up at the MADEIRADIG Festival

November 27th, 2009

The MADEIRADIG Festival is a unique Adventure in extra-ordinary Music. Each December
the Portuguese island – celebrated as the ‘paradise island’ and ‘floating garden’ – is
transformed into a hotbed of digital culture. The festival on the storied volcanic island,
located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, features stunning and inimitable line-up, a
landscape to match and attractive spring temperatures. This is an avant-garde trip through
the world of serious new & contemporary music.

MADEIRADIG was created in 2004, filling a gap in Madeira’s cultural events in the field of
multimedia and digital arts. The Festival aims to bring local and international top-level
artists from the fields of music, film, video, computer art and photography together. This
edition of the MADEIRADIG festival is support by the online magazine and music specialist
Digital in Berlin.

This year’s line up includes Alva Noto, Murcof, Jean-Michael & Band, Christ., Zavoloka +
Laetitia Morais, Gigantiq, Felix Kubin, Hugo Olim and Jerome Faria, Jade, Clara Hill
and Jason Forrest among others.

During the MADEIRADIG Festival guests will have the opportunity to stay at the same hotel
as the artists. The Design Hotel Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, one of the main sponsors of
the event, is hosting the afterhours sessions during the festival, where artists and guests
mix in a relaxed party atmosphere. Member of the “Design Hotels Group“ the Estalagem da
Ponta do Sol is an excellent example of how architecture and nature can be seamlessly
joined.

MYKITA, the designer eyewear brand handmade in Berlin, is proud to be sponsoring all
MADEIRADIG artists with stylish eyewear. MYKITA will be setting up a pop up store in the
shape of the MYKITA WALL in the lobby of the hotel, where festival guests will be able to
stock up on glasses for the whole duration of the event.
